Damon Krieger — Vice President and Secretary, SMECO Solar LLC; Senior Vice President, Legal and Strategy and General Counsel, Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SMECO). SMECO Solar LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Cooperative.
Krieger has been employed with the cooperative since 2023. He is responsible for SMECO’s legal and regulatory matters, including the cooperative's relationships with federal and state regulatory agencies, as well as rates, energy procurement, distributed energy and sustainability, and strategic initiatives. He has significant experience in the utility industry and in providing legal counsel—17 years as a practicing attorney in a global law firm, a large coal production company, and a large Maryland electric and gas utility. His work experience also includes leading utility business operations focused on environmental management and sustainability, real estate, facilities operations, and business planning and support.
Krieger earned his bachelor of arts degree in music and government from Connecticut College in New London and his law degree from University of Maryland School of Law in Baltimore.
